The Cypfruvex facility combines frozen and chilled rooms with solar power to reduce crop losses.

Local context

The North Cyprus Prime Ministry said the 7,661-square-metre facility has six frozen-storage rooms with total capacity of 5,000 tonnes and 12 cold rooms with capacity of 10,000 tonnes. It also includes two blast-chilling rooms and a solar-energy system.

Who this matters to

The complex is designed to help citrus and other growers avoid forced sales immediately after harvest, preserve quality and strengthen Cypfruvex processing, storage and export capacity. The project was financed by Türkiye and coordinated with the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye.
