Local context
The Consumer Protection Service's August price watch used daily prices and quantities for 250 food and household products across 400 supermarkets, bakeries, kiosks and other retailers. Forty of 45 categories were more expensive than in August 2025.
Who this matters to
Compared with July, 19 categories rose, 25 fell and one was unchanged. Cooking stock increased 3.7%, fresh vegetables 3.2% and cheese 1.4%; frozen molluscs fell 11.9% and laundry detergents 4.8%. The service urged shoppers to compare prices through e-kalathi.
